We went to Plaza Tikal tonight and, of course, the food was wonderful (we don’t have a kitchen so this was like our 10th time).  As usual, I couldn’t finish my dinner so they packed up for me and I left it there. When we ran back it was gone and they insisted on making me a new one! How kind is that? Thank you so much, Plaza Tikal! ~ Paddie Donohue

The restaurant is brightly decorated and very clean. The staff is polite and respectful.  We started with an order of nachos.  The nachos have marinated beef and fresh vegetables, not just ground burger.  Salmon fajita is yummy, yum, yum… ~ Katherine H., Gladstone, NJ

We ran to check out Plaza Tikal this afternoon after months anticipating its opening. It was worth the wait! We got food to go, but the dining room is bright, cheery and spacious, and we’ll look forward to dining in. We started with fairly standard dishes so we could compare to other places: chicken burrito, chicken tacos, guacamole, and of course, Jarritos! This was just lunch, mind you. The burrito was warm and comforting, the chicken fresh and delicious. The tacos were as fresh and came with tomatillo salsa on the side. Very flavorful and slightly zippy, but not heavy. The guacamole was fresh and tasty and came with the avocado pit (so watch out-plant it, don’t eat it). Finally, the waitress who took our to-go order, Mariana, could not have been more pleasant. We’re looking forward to working our way through the menu. ~ Harold B.

My wife and I ordered a chicken burrito and chicken enchiladas to go. The burrito was large and came with a side of sour cream and some very good guacamole. The chicken was juicy and had a nice grilled flavor. The enchiladas appeared to be authentic with pulled chicken topped salsa verde and cheese (I think it was queso fresco). Overall very good. About Plaza Tikal

TikalHola and Welcome to Plaza Tikal!  Owner, Chef Julio, opened the restaurant in October 2016 and received such a warm welcome from the wonderful town of Bernardsville, as well as visitors from neighboring towns.  Chef Julio has been working in a variety of area restaurants for over 20 years. His natural love of organic cooking inspired him to fulfill his dream to open Plaza Tikal.

Chef Julio takes great care to use fresh, local products and is meticulous in his food preparation.  For instance, the pork in the Taco al Pastore that you are enjoying is marinated and seasoned for three days for optimal flavor.  Also, the Chicken Enchilada with Mole Sauce is not your typical Mole as it is made in-house with over 20 different ingredients.  Chef Julio’s culinary creativity is evident daily with mouth-watering specials. You might get a glimpse of Chef Julio and his crew working hard in the kitchen every day, ensuring that every meal is cooked to perfection.

The bright, festive atmosphere of Plaza Tikal is inviting and perfect for lunch and dinner with family, friends and colleagues, and the upbeat Mariachi music piped throughout the restaurant will put you in a celebratory mood.
